Holiday fun at OOSH vacation care

Ice cream creations, sporting activities and a trip to the Kavon Theme Restaurant were just some of the highlights from St Nicholas OOSH vacation care service which took place from 7th - 30th January.

St Nicholas OOSH’s Vacation Care

The children who attended our very first vacation care programs, were exposed to endless incursions and excursions, games and activities, based on their interest and choice to keep them entertained and engaged throughout their days at OOSH.

One of the planned excursions was a bus trip to the Kavon Theme Restaurant in Hamilton. It was a day filled with crazily dressed entertainers, fun games and lots of dancing which was enjoyed by everyone, even the OOSH educators showed their moves on the dance floor.

A teddy bear’s picnic was a hit with the children at Glendale, as they firstly ‘constructed their very own teddy bear’ to share their picnic lunch with.

Australia Day at St Nicholas OOSH Chisholm called for Australian themed games, including thong tossing, a fun quiz about all things Australian and a sausage sizzle for lunch. Some children took the festivities one step further and covered themselves in Australian flag tattoos and face paint.

To celebrate the end of the holidays, OOSH Chisholm finished on a high note which was loved by everyone and was the perfect addition to the hot summer’s day. With the children patiently waiting outside for their surprise to be revealed, inside an ice cream creation station was being set up with various lollies, toppings and cakes to choose from. When the doors opened to uncover their delicious treat, the children looked on in anticipation, as they waited patiently for their turn to create their ice cream. This activity was an obvious hit, with everyone begging for seconds!

With all the students now back at school, it was great to see how successful OOSH vacation care was in its first time of operation. The activities couldn’t have run so well without the wonderful team of educators preparing and running the events each day. We look forward to seeing everyone again in the April school holidays, with planning already underway!
